What are cookies and why are they needed
Cookies are cookies that are stored on our computer and contain various data about the sites we visited. When we go to a website, the various information that we somehow indicate to the website is stored in our cookies. The next time we go to the same site, the information from these cookies will be sent to the web server where the site is located and those settings that we manually applied to the site for the first time will automatically be applied on subsequent visits.
What do cookies store in themselves?
For example, we set up some site to our tastes (naturally on which there is such an opportunity). Take Yandex search engine. There you can select a theme and add widgets to be displayed on the Yandex main page, you can specify how many sites will be displayed when searching for information, which topic will be displayed in the mail, which interface language will be and various other settings.
It turns out that having configured all these charms once, all this data about the changes will remain in our cookies, and upon subsequent visits they will be used by default.
This is just one example.
What else do cookies contain?
Of course, these are account passwords on sites.
Probably, we noticed more than once that once we entered the password with the login on the site, when we visit again, we are already authorized or the password with the login is automatically substituted in the necessary form fields, we just need to click the Login button. We do not need to constantly enter the username and password on each site. Information about this site is recorded in cookies, and when we visit this site again, the data is sent to the server, which verifies the information and we no longer need to enter anything.
Some users believe that cookies are some kind of malware, but in fact cookies are ordinary information in a text format that is stored on our computer.
Cookies do not delete or transmit information from a computer; they cannot do this. In modern browsers, there is a function to disable the storage of cookies, but by disabling cookies, we lose some features on many sites.
That is why I do not recommend disabling the acceptance of cookies!
