How to block (close) access to the site?
Most likely, and more than once you have the following question: how to block access to the site? The need to block certain sites can be different, for example, to block access to the Odnoklassniki website so that the employees in the office at the working computer do not stick out on it, but do their job or block access to certain sites that children don’t want to visit, and so on.
It is worth saying that the method of closing access to the site, which will be described below, does not guarantee that a person who is well versed in the computer will not be able to guess what is the matter. In a word, if you want to restrict access to the site from children or some other people who are not very computer savvy, then everything will work. They will be surprised to see how the site does not load, and can not do anything. But knowledgeable users will most likely be able to solve this problem, although not a fact.
We will block access to sites using the hosts file. This file is located at: My computer – C drive – Windows – System32 – drivers – etc – hosts.
So, go to My computer, then open the C drive, on the drive we find the Windows folder, then the System32 folder – drivers – etc. In the folder etc is our treasured file.
The hosts file needs to be opened using notepad, double-click on it with the left mouse button and in the opened list of programs we find the notepad, select it and click OK. Or you can right-click on the file and select “Open with – Notepad” in the list that appears.
open hosts file through notepad
How can we now block access to sites using this file ?!
We need to register them in this file, but there are some nuances here. To get started, we get on a new line, use the enter key and write the following numbers: 127.0.0.1, after them we put a space and register the site. It will look something like this: 127.0.0.1 www.sait.ru. Then we go to a new line by pressing the enter key, and again we write 127.0.0.1, then we put a space and we prescribe the next site and so on until we register all the sites. Here’s what it looks like for me:
When we wrote all the sites that should be blocked when loading in the browser, we need to save this file. Click File – Save.
save hosts file
The last step is left! Sites are still loading! This is all because we did not restart the computer. We reboot the computer and try to go to any of the sites that are registered. Result on the face – The site does not load.
In such non-complicated ways, we have denied access to sites, your children or other people for whom all these operations have been performed will no longer be able to access sites that are denied access in the hosts file.
For these sites to start loading again, just go to the host file, delete the registered sites, save the file and restart the computer!
