Do I need to update the BIOS (BIOS)?
BIOS is a program built into the motherboard. It is stored in a special chip and connects the motherboard and all the components that connect to it.
The question of whether to update the BIOS may arise not only for novice users. Even more advanced users may have this question. Despite the fact that they are not the first year at the computer they have never had to update the BIOS. This is due to the fact that BIOS is interrogated really by necessity or in other words – rarely. It’s not like with Windows, it started to slow down something or did not work stably, then quickly reinstalled it and solved the problem.
With BIOS, everything is different, it can work stably even if it is 2013, and the last update was carried out in 2007. This is an example of the BIOS on my computer. That is why the question of whether to update the BIOS, I answer NO.
If there are no global changes in the new firmware versions for the BIOS of your motherboard, such as fixing serious or even critical errors, then updating the BIOS is not necessary.
You need to go to the website of the manufacturer of your motherboard, find updates for the BIOS and make sure that the developer strongly does not recommend updating. In other cases, it is worth considering. And I do not recommend updating BIOS, at least for three reasons:
1. It is not safe.
2. This is not necessary.
3. In general, this will not affect the operation of the computer.
If during the BIOS update something goes wrong, there will be a “caput” to your motherboard. In a good way, its “revival” will cost a considerable amount, but in a bad way it will remain to throw it out. Do you need it?
If everything works well already, it seems to me not worth the risk. If there is any reason, and it is very necessary to update the BIOS, then I advise you to consult a specialist. Well, there, it’s up to you to decide, I just expressed my opinion that it is not necessary to update the BIOS, especially to myself!
