How to surf the web safely?
Today, all kinds of viruses and various kinds of fraud on the Internet have spread so much that it is sometimes very dangerous for novice users to surf the Internet. It is dangerous, as in terms of harming the computer, and being divorced for money. I always say to newcomers to computers, they say, you do not need to send any messages with different codes, do not pay anything on the Internet if you are not good at this. Want to buy something? Consult with people for whom the computer is a commonplace business. Surely you have a son, daughter, mom or dad who can easily advise you. In extreme cases, you can read reviews on the Internet. But it’s just not clear where to transfer money or send SMS from a mobile phone, well, you don’t need to. Take a big risk.
Now I will give you some tips on how to safely surf the Internet. Adhering to them, you will greatly shield yourself from various kinds of fraud, scam, etc.
1. Antivirus and fresh base.
You, of course, must have a good antivirus installed. Without an antivirus program, it’s better not to hang out on the Internet today. Which Avast antivirus to choose, Kaspersky or another, is up to you. To make it easier for you to decide, you can read my brief article on choosing protection: Which antivirus to choose.
New viruses are created daily, respectively, and new anti-virus databases also come out constantly. Therefore, do not forget to update your anti-virus database, although most anti-virus programs do this automatically when you turn on the Internet. But remember that anyway.
2. Keep track of which sites you go to and what you download.
Having stumbled upon a site where they offer to download a movie for sending SMS, you know, they will charge you 300 rubles, and you are unlikely to wait for the code. Learn to download the files you need correctly. And all of these – Send SMS and download in 5 minutes, etc., etc., this is nothing to see, all this is a different kind of extortion.
The same goes for downloaded files. Sometimes it happens, you download a program, and it is packed into an archive, you try to unzip the file, and it asks you to send an SMS to get the code for further unzipping. In general, nonsense, I do not advise you to send anything, just spend the money.
3. Check the downloaded.
What is already downloaded is best scanned. Most often, antiviruses immediately scan for new files that get to our PC via a network or flash drives. But this advice will also not be superfluous. I recommend you manually scan suspicious files. Right-click on a file or a folder with files, and in the context menu that appears, select the Scan item and then the name of your antivirus is there.
4. Just do not see each other.
There are more cases when, for example, an email arrives like from the administration of a website, for example, from the VKontakte social network, and the letter contains a link that leads to the website one-on-one similar to the Contact itself, but now in the address bar not vk.com and anything else like vkk.com. People often do not notice that this is a fraudulent site, they enter their username and password there and then after a couple of hours they realize that their page is hacked. Keep track of which sites you enter your data on, and if the site is one to one the same does not mean that it is it, you can easily copy it. Watch the address bar where the names of the sites are written!
